Corridor
We know that the construction and operation of HKW may have several consequences for birds’ freedom of movement and it may make areas such as the Brown Bank more difficult to reach. This is why we want to create a corridor in the middle of the wind farm to connect the coast with the Brown Bank.
This so-called corridor is a section where we will place the wind turbines further apart. Alongside the corridor, we will also place the taller wind turbines.
We do not know whether such corridors have a (species-specific) impact, but we hope that it will help to ensure that the Brown Bank remains accessible by creating a – relatively – safe and open route. We will monitor the effectiveness of the corridor during the entire project and share related results and research publicly.
