As Ecowende’s wind turbine supplier, Vestas is responsible for the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the 52 wind turbines for the wind farm. Upon completion, Vestas will also service the wind farm for 15 years.

We believe wind will form the backbone of sustainable energy systems of the future, also for the Netherlands. Ecowende emphasises the integration of the wind farm into the local ecology, which is essential to underline the social value of wind energy.

The wind turbines

With more than 25 years of experience in offshore wind, Vestas has built its V236-15.0 MW™ offshore wind turbine using proven technology. The wind turbines have a swept area of 43,742 m² – the size of more than five football fields – and a blade length of 115.5 metres. This makes the wind turbines capable of producing up to 80 GWh a year, depending on the site-specific conditions. Once the turbines are delivered, a jack-up installation vessel will load the turbine components at the pre-installation harbour for transit to the offshore site.

Vestas also supports us in delivering the technologically innovative ecological measures. This includes increasing the hub height of the wind turbines, as well as integrating bird curtailment, detection and deterrence systems into the turbine design.
